Here on the Frump Fighters blog written specifically for moms, we make it our goal to help you wade through the fashion world and easily find the bright, exciting new things that can help you step up your wardrobe.
While we do try to focus on classic styles that can carry you through many years without looking dated, an easy way to avoid "frumpy" is by incorporating seasonal trends into your closet.
It helps freshen and update your look--eliminating the risk of "falling behind" or looking "dated." Nobody wants that!
Before we get started, I wanted to make sure you've signed up for our 3-day mom challenge!

Can you believe we're heading into another new season? Maybe you can because you are already enjoying warm, sunny weather or maybe you're like me and the idea of sleeveless tops and shorts feels like a far off dream world - ha! Either way, spring is quickly on it's way and with it another season full of new trends and styles we can hardly begin to navigate.
As you learn what's "in style" your confidence while shopping and dressing will skyrocket.
But figuring out what's in style each season can be time consuming.
We're here to make it easy for you to feel confident about what you wear, what you buy, and what you don't buy.
So, ladies, here's our Spring/Summer 2018 edition of "Fashion Trends That Are Mom Friendly."
These 13 current trends made the cut, and there are others that we chose NOT to include either because they were 1) expensive, 2) not modest/classy, 3) not conducive to mom life!
Tip #1 before getting started: BE PICKY WITH YOUR TRENDS.
Only try out the ones you really love and can be added to your wardrobe on a budget. Speaking of which, don't forget to grab this post's freebie that covers several ways you can incorporate trends for free or for cheap.
Tip #2 before getting started: BUILD UP YOUR BASICS WARDROBE BEFORE YOU ADD TRENDS.
If you feel like you don't have any basic outfits to start with, buying trends will only frustrate you. Make sure you have those basics first: good fitting white tee, jeans, shorts, dress. See more about basics here. When you have a good foundation, adding a trend or two to your style becomes fun and adds value to your wardrobe!

On Trend Right Now In: Colors and Patterns
Look For: Blush & Lavender
It's typical in the spring and summer to see a few lighter colors play a main part in new styles and this year is no different. Blush and lavender are both popular springy tones you can very easily incorporate into your wardrobe. A basic top is a particularly easy to way to do this, but don't be afraid to try a dress or pair of bottoms!
Look For: Polka Dots
This is one of my favorite patterns of all time! Polka dots can be pretty classy, but also super fun! They're out in strength this year in everything from shoes to purses, from blouses to swimsuits!
Look for: Gingham
I know, I know, you're thinking "duh, plaid has been 'in' all fall and winter" and while that's true, gingham in particular is very popular this season! A type of plaid, gingham is usually a solid color paired with white. Navy and black appear to be the most common colors, which is awesome because this is a very easy pattern to mix and match and having some neutral colors makes your options endless!
Look for: Denim
Obviously denim jeans is a forever piece almost everyone has in their closet, but there is denim in almost every piece this season, including overalls, tops, and utility styled jackets.
Lots of raw edges, however cuffs are also still popular. Be on the lookout for different colored denims paired together in one piece as well as lots of distressing and even embroidery.
On Trend Right now In: Specific Style Tops, Dresses & Pants
Look for: Ruffles & Bell Sleeves
Ruffles. SO MANY RUFFLES. Go to the store and you'll see ruffled tees, ruffled blouses, ruffles on swimsuits, ruffles on dresses and especially on sleeves!
Bell sleeves are also popular and often are ruffled as well! This is a fun, feminine trend you can incorporate with almost any kind of outfit piece you desire!
Bell sleeves barely passed our mom-friendly test. I know I wouldn't clean or change diapers or COOK wearing the gray blouse on top/center (mom's on FIRE!), however there are some less pronounced or "tighter" bell sleeves that would work (the white or olive variety above).
Look for: Jumpsuits & Rompers
This trend isn't for everyone, but if you want to take the plunge on something different jumpsuits and rompers are all the rage right now with many styles to choose from! Tanks, Sleeves, shorts pants, slim cut, wide leg, you can take your pick!
Note: Not recommended for nursing mamas unless you find one with buttons down the front.
Look for: Athleisure
Not that most of us need any encouragement to pull out our yoga pants, but this is a trend that's starting to branch out with fun, dressier details. Even for gym days, if you want something trendy to wear the rest of the day you can grab styled tops and pants that look cute on and off the treadmill.
On Trend Right Now In: Shoes & Accessories
Look For: Slip Ons
Ease is the name of the game with this trend. There are many different styles to choose from, whether you like wide straps, skinny straps, sparkles, bows, just about whatever your heart desires!
Look for: Sneakers
I love it when basic styles are super popular. Sneakers are everywhere this season and they pair easily with hosts of different outfits!
Look For: Crossbody Purses/Totes
In my opinion, crossbody purses and bags are the epitome of mom-friendly. Baby in one hand, toddler in another and you're not losing your purse off your shoulder. WIN!
Trends Still Going Strong
This section is for trends we've talked about over the last year that are still popular this year!
Look For: Trenches
Trench coats are a very classic styled coat that are pretty much always out there if you look in the right places. This season, however, they are popping up everywhere in many materials and colors. You can't go wrong with a basic outwear piece like this!
Look For: Florals
Florals have been going strong for a while now and it doesn't appear to be a trend that will be fading any time soon! A newer floral you might see this season is smaller, ditsy florals. Florals pattern mix really well, but also are fun on their own. You can't really go wrong with whatever floral you choose!
Look For: Utility
We've seen utility vests and jackets for a few seasons now, but this spring and summer you'll see them in lots of styles including skirts, shorts, dresses and even jumpsuits!
The Full Year Wardrobe plan includes both a utility jacket and a utility vest. Because spring mornings can be chilly, these are pretty classic pieces you should be able to easily utilize! Get the plan free here.
That rounds up our mom-friendly trend picks for Spring/Summer 2018.
Like I mentioned before, take note of the ones you love and look for those details/styles when you're shopping.
You can be confident that when you incorporate some of these looks into your spring/summer wardrobe, you will be looking relevant, stylish, and super cute!
